The design of both the drones, Mavic Air and Mavic Air 2 are different completely from each other.
The Mavic Air 2 is a new and updated version of the Mavic Air, and the drone has got a good response by the customers, And the rating of the drone is 4.6 out of 5.

The Controller Transmission System on the Mavic Air 2 is OcuSync 2.0, that means the drone can fly to a long distance without losing the signal.
The Mavic mini and Mavic air have a wifi Controller Transmission System that sometimes loses the signal while flying the drone to long distance.
We can now control the drone to long distances without losing control.
The Mavic Air 2 has a Max Flight Distance of 18.5 km (11.495 miles). Precisely the range on the Mavic air was 4km (about 2.4 miles).
We can mount the mobile phone on the top of the remote and are more convenient to use than the previous drone remote on the Mavic air.
The Size and the weight of the remote are more than the Mavic air.
The joysticks on the drone are detachable then means while keeping the drone into the bag, and need not worry about the bocage of the joystick of the drone.
The remote controller can easily control the drone with the mobile by installing the DJI app. The app is available for both android and IOS.
It doesn’t have a screen and antennae on the remote.
Overall, the design of the remote looks great, easy to use, and reliable.
As discussed earlier in the intro, the design of the Mavic Air 2 is like the Mavic series drone and different from the Mavic air.
Sensors: The drone has a three-side sensor front, back, and bottom. Therefore, you need to be care full while flying the drone sideways (left and right) and top.
The Sensor on the drone works great, as it also helps the drone from not crashing while flying the drone.
Colour: The DJI Mavic Air is available in the Grey colour. The Mavic Air is available in three unique colour Arctic White, Onyx Black and Flame Red.
Build quality: The Mavic Air has a premium build quality. It doesn’t look cheap, which means the drone is going to last longer.
Portability: The arms of the drones are foldable. It is portable and fits into the backpack, occupying less space, and gets ready to take off in no time. Therefore, make it a good portable drone.
Propellers: The propellers on the are Quick release and produce less noise than the Mavic air.
Gimbal: The drone has 3-axis gimbal (tilt, roll, pan)
- Tilt: -135° to 45°
- Roll: -45° to 45°
- Pan: -100° to 100°
In short, the gimbal will help to capture amazing images and videos in any situation.
Battery & Speed
The weight of the drone is 570 g, it is two times more than the DJI Mavic mini and 40% lighter than Mavic 2 pro.
The size of the drone while folded and unfolded is:
- Folded: 180×97×74 mm (Length×Width×Height)
- Unfolded: 183×253×77 mm (Length×Width×Height)
Battery: The maximum flight time on the Mavic Air 2 is 34 minutes and 33 minutes while hovering. It is two times more than the DJI Spark.
The 34 minutes of flight is incredible. The previous one (Mavic air) had a flight time of about 21 minutes. That was tough to capture the pleasant images and need to be efficient while the drone is up in the air.
Now, the drone can capture incredible shorts, without landing on the ground frequently.
The Mavic 2 Pro has a flight time of 31 minutes. Compared to the flight time of the Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic Air 2 is a clear winner.
The Flight time of the drone is an enormous advantage for beginners and photographers.
Speed: The max speed of the drone in the sport mode is 72 kph.
The Max Horizontal Flight Speed of the Mavic air 2:
- Sport Mode: 19 m/s
- Normal Mode: 12 m/s
- Tripod Mode: 5 m/s
The Max Ascent Speed of the drone is:
- 4 m/s (S Mode)
- 4 m/s (N Mode)
There is no difference in the drone’s speed. The max speed of the DJI Mavic air 2, Mavic 2 Pro, and zoom is the same that is 72kph.
The Mavic Air 2 has 8 GB Internal storage and expandable up to 256 GB. (SanDisk Extreme 256GB V30 A2 microSDXC)
The Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic zoom, and Mavic air have the 8gb internal storage. If you are someone who forgets things often, like me, then this feature is a brilliant use for you.
Image: The Mavic Air 2 has a 48MP camera and 1/2″ CMOS image sensor. The Effective Pixels of the drone is 12 MP and 48 MP. that means it can capture the image in the 12MP and 48MP.
The Image quality of the drone will not trouble you. With a 1/2-inch CMOS sensing element, Mavic Air 2 captures spectacular 48MP photos.
If you are looking for a high-quality image with lots of details than Mavic Air 2 is a superb choice for you.
The second best drone camera shoots 20MP (DJI Mavic 2 zoom) photos and the Mavic Air 2 shoot 48MP
If you are into aerial photography, 48 megapixels is going to allow you to get incredible shots.
If your somebody who prints high-resolution photos and you don’t want to worry about losing any quality, this thing’s going to be amazing.
with the 48 megapixels, you can take wide shots, then you can crop in and still have high-resolution images.
You can capture wide shots with the 48 megapixels, crop them, and still have the high-resolution images.
In the above mention picture, we can see there is not a vast difference between the image quality. But there is a difference in the Image color of the drone. And the image of the Mavic 2 pro looks a bit zoom than the rest of the drones.
You can choose weather which color of the image quality you want in your drone, but the editing can change the image and the video color.
Honestly, this is one of the best drones for photography.
Now let us see what happens when we zoom the image.
When we zoom the image to 600%, we can see the difference. The image quality of the Mavic 2 Pro is quite a blur than the image quality of the Mavic air 2.
That means the zoom image quality of the Mavic Air 2 is better than the Mavic 2 pro.
Smart photo: The smart photo feature on the drone does scene recognition. So, depending on what the drone is pointing at like trees, sunrise, sunset, snow, or low-light, it will adjust the setting accordingly.
Some basic specs are:
- Image pixel: 48 MP 8000×6000 pixel
- Smart Photo: Scene Recognition, HyperLight, and HDR, HDR Panorama.
- Panorama: 180° Panorama (3×7)
- Photo Formats: JPEG/DNG (RAW)
- Aperture: f/2.8
- Equivalent Focal Length: 24 mm
There is not a big difference in the camera of all the Mavic series drones. The color quality of each drone differs from each other.
Video: The Mavic Air 2 records 4K Ultra HD @60 fps 120 megabits per second. It can shoot slow-mo footage up to 240 frames per second and 1080p.
Other and Mavic air 2, you can record the video 4K Ultra HD @60 fps in the Phantom 4 pro.
That is the top end feature and packed in the Mavic air 2. And the Mavic 2 Pro can record video 4k @30fps.
It can shoot at 3 colour spaces
- Cena like

The drone has a smart active tracking mode, where it detects the object even after it gets hidden by the obstacle.
The active tracking and obstacle avoidance feature are like the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic Zoom.
