DJI Mavic mini battery

The Mavic mini has a battery capacity of 2600 mAh battery, which gives 30 minutes of flight time in a less windy area. With a propeller guard, it gives you around 20-25 minutes of flight time. That is two times more than the Spark.

With the fly more combo of the Mavic mini, you will get 3 battery holding facilities in one pack (get in fly more combo). It charges three batteries one by one rather than charging 3 batteries simultaneously.

DJI Mavic Mini Remote

dji-spark-review

The Mavic mini takes off and landing is super smooth, you just need to power it on and fill the drone with the remote (connect your cellphone with the remote) and the drone is ready to go in the air.

You need to use DJI’s new flight app to control the drone. It’s a user-friendly app with a simple UI (user interface) and anybody can easily fly the drone after following the in-app tutorial.

The remote completely controls the Mavic mini using like the drone movements altitude and all of that using the two joysticks on the remote and the app.

The Mavic mini has a responsive remote control which works immediately and has no delay. The drone has quick video buttons and quick photo buttons, you can change the angle of the drone with the remote.

The battery indicator at the top of the remote so you can have access to battery life.

The remote has a landing and returns to the home button. It is easy to control the drone with the mobile. We can see a live preview of the drone’s camera in HD quality and access a map with drone remote and mobile connected to it.

DJI Mavic mini stability

The Mavic mini is super stable in the air regardless of its being lightweight, which is 249 grams. The drone is a rock-solid and stable, at least within a range of half a kilometer.

DJI Mavic mini has vision positioning sensors on the bottom plus GPS and GLONASS system for precisely hovering at a spot.

If you have already used the DJI spark or other Mavic series, you won’t find much of a difference in-flight experience because it’s the same. It offers superb control over the drone, very easy to fly, and a lot of fun at the same time.

DJI Mavic mini Modes

The Mavic mini has three different flight modes.

  • Position mode
  • Sport mode
  • Cinematic mode

First, we call on the P-mode or position mode, it’s for all the basic and normal operations.

The P mode, i.e., position mode is perfect for normal outdoor flying. In this mode, the drone will fly with a max speed of around 27 to 28 mph. That I think is more than enough for general users and smooth control.

And the second one is the sport mode, by switching into the sport mode you will unlock the full power of the drone. If you want to fly the drone at a higher altitude than you can switch to the sport mode, it will give you more power.

The last one is cinema mode.

In this mode, you can control the drone smoothly. If you want to get the cinematic feel, then this mode is perfect for you.

If you more fun and more action switch it to the sport mode that will unleash Mavic mini’s full power in this mode, the drone can fly at almost 45 to 46 km/h.

But keep in mind that battery life will reduce faster.

Mavic mini max speed in different modes:

  • Sport Mode: 4 meters/s
  • Position Mode: 2 meters/s
  • Cinematic Mode: 1.5 meters/s

Mavic mini also has an automatic return to home function. In case you lost your drone connection or the battery is low, then it will automatically come back to its GPS home position.

The return to home feature on the drone adds more value to the drone for the beginners and photographers.

DJI Mavic mini Range

DJI promises that the max range of Mavic mini is4 kilometers (2.5 miles). The drone also has HD live video transmission. The HD video transmission works great with no latency, even up to 700 to 800 meters.

But the Mavic mini doesn’t have any obstacle avoidance or even detection sensors. So you had to be careful with the surroundings.

DJI Mavic mini Camera

Don’t let the size of the drone fool you because a Mavic mini comes with an excellent quality camera, for instance

  • It got a 12-megapixel camera with F 2.8 aperture.
  • 1/2.3″ CMOS sensor.
  • It can shoot video in 2.7K 30fps or even in 1080p @60 frames per second.
  • It has 3 axis Gimbal which gives stable videos.

The Mavic mini also has the regular flight modes, and the app has some pre-programmed flight modes called the quick shots using which automatically records cinematic videos while performing a certain movement.

And the drone also comes back to its original position after it’s done with that these quick shots include rocket mode, circle mode, helix mode, and drones mode.

You just need to select the mode and enter the desired range, click the start button and the drone will do all those actions automatically while shooting the videos and you don’t even need to touch the remote.

The quick short of mavic mini are:

  1. Rocket Mode: Ascend with the camera pointing bottom.
  2. Helix Mode: Fly higher, spiraling around your subject.
  3. Circle Mode: Circle around the object
  4. Droine modes: Fly backward and upward, with the camera locked on one point.

DJI Mavic mini design

The build quality of the drone looks premium, even though the drone is lightweight, DJI has not reduced the quality of the drone. That means the drone is going to last more and with the minor crashes, the drone will not be damage.

The weight of the drone is 249 grams, and the drone is small. It has a foldable design like the default Mavic series of drones. Its low weight gives an advantage to the user to fly the drone without registration in many countries.

Here’s a quick size comparison between the Mavic mini and the Mavic Pro the Mavic mini is tiny compared to the pro almost half in size but the overall design of both the drone is more or less the same.

DJI Mavic mini Combo review

In the fly more combo you will get extra three batteries and three battery charger (this helps the battery to charge at one go), a propeller guard, a USB cable, a small screwdriver to change the propeller, a remoteUSB Type C cable, micro USB, lightning port (to connect the remote with cellphone) and responsive remote control.

The propeller guards are helpful for the beginners as they prevent the drone from crashing. Three batteries in the pack will give a long flight experience.

Mavic mini pros and cons

Conclusion

The DJI has designed the drone, keeping in mind that it fits perfectly for the beginners and for entry-level photography. The Mavic mini is more towards beginners drone.

If this drone is going to be your first drone, then you can definitely go for the Mavic mini.

If you already own some other drones and looking for a backup drone than Mavic mini can be a brilliant choice for you. Because of its two key features :

  • Lite weight, portability, and
  • camera

If you need a drone for some basic cinematic shorts, and the budget is not too high then this is going to a brilliant choice for you.

The drone has does not have much customization or manual features. So if you are a professional than this might be not the best choice. Overall, the drone is one of the best drones at this price range in the market.
