Parrot Anafi review intro (Jump to camera review)
The ANAFI is a brand new drone from Parrot. It features 4k HDR video, axis Image stabilization, ultra-portable, 25 minutes of flight time, and a whole lot more.
Parrot is one of the biggest competitors of DJI in the world market. And I believe the competitors are healthy for the customers.
At this price range, there are many drones in the market, but few features in the Parrot Anafi makes it completely stand out from the rest of the drones. Features like,
- Build quality
- Unique design
- And some more features in the drone.
Parrot realized the Anafi on July 2, 2018, by the Parrot. The Parrot has launched the Anafi drone in Five variants and that is as follows.
Moreover, in this article, we are going to review the Parrot Anafi. We will also go through the Specifications of the drone and compare the camera of the drone with its price level drones.
So with no further delay, let us dive into.

Parrot Anafi box contains
The package includes a drone with the batter, remote controller, a 16 GB Micro, USB cable, and eight additional spare props. The first impression of the drone was impressive.
The box contains also includes a carrying case. The carrying case of the drone is outstanding quality, and well-padded inside and the drone fits in there perfectly. The carrying case build quality is strong and durable.
Parrot Anafi camera
The Parrot Anafi has a 21 MP camera (21MP (5344×4016) / 4:3 / 84° HFOV) with a 1/2.4’’ CMOS Sensor. It can shoot and record some stunning photos, as we saw in the video below. The Anafi can capture images in JPEG and DNG (RAW).
Video Quality: The Anafi can record video at a maximum resolution of 4k @30fps that is the same as Mavic Air and Spark. The Anafi can record video at HDR, which I think is one of the best features of the drone.
In the HDR video, the drone captures more light and gives exposure to the objects. Users mostly use these features of the drone in the evening or night.
In the HDR mode, the drone does not capture more details, For instance, In the above video, we can see that the drone in the HDR mode captures more light, and when you focus on the sky, the cloud is not visible properly. It shows to capture the footage in more detail; we need to switch to the normal mode.
The major difference in the HDR mode and non-HDR is in the HDR mode the drone capture more light and when the HDR mode is off the drone captures voltages in more detail.
When we compare the video of Mavic air and Autel Evo with the Anafi, we can see the difference. The footages of Anafi are brighter than both the drones.
The Anafi can tilt its camera in 180° by holding its projection in one place (while hovering) and while flying. On paper, the company claims to have a three-axis gimbal but has a two-axis gimbal. However, the footage of the drone is stable.
The Anafi has digital zoom features, which I think is a handoff feature of the Anafi because this is a high-end feature of the drone, and we can see it in the Mavic 2 Zoom. That is one of the best drones for photography.
In the feature, Digital Zoom, we can zoom the footage of the drone towards the object without losing the quality. In Anafi we can zoom up to 2.8x (FHD) & 1.4x (4K UHD). This is one of the outstanding features of the Anafi and makes it worth picking.
Parrot Anafi remote controller
Remote controller: The weight of the controller is 386 grams, which is heavier than the drone itself. The design of the Mavic Air 2 and Anafi remote is similar. The only difference is with the features and the build quality of both the remote. The remote has a mobile mount feature on the top.
The Anafi has a Max transmission range of 4Km with the Wi-Fi Transmission system of 802.11a/b/g/n and Operating frequencies 2.4 GHz–5.8 GHz.
The max Anafi Live streaming resolution is 720p HD. It supports mobile device’s screen size up to 6’’. It uses USB-C for Charge and USB-A for Connection.
Parrot Anafi Design
Design: The drone has a foldable design like the Mavic mini and Mavic 2 zoom. The dimension of the Anafi wild folded is 244x67x65mm and 175x240x65mm while unfolded. The foldable design of the drone makes it easy to fit into a backpack.
Weight: The Takeoff weight of the drone is 320 grams (0.71 pounds). The Anafi is lightweight but heavier than the Mavic mini. Therefore, if you do not have an FAA license than this can trouble you.
Battery: The max flight time of the drone is 25 minutes. The drone takes 1 hour 50minutes to charge fully. Whereas in Mavic Air, the Maximum flight time is 21 minutes.
There is only one battery with the basic version of the Parrot Anafi.
Speed: The max flight speed of the drone is 50km/h (31 miles per hour), Maximum horizontal speed is 15m/s, and maximum vertical speed is 4m/s. The Anafi has a wind residence up to 50km/h. That is the most admiring feature of the Anafi.
The Anafi does not have a propeller guard, but the propellers of the drone are quieter than other drones.
The only disadvantage of the drone is we need to pay an extra $19.90 to unlock “follow me” features on the drone.
Advantages and disadvantages
- The Parrot Anafi is fast and fun to fly.
- The Parrot Anafi is quieter than the Mavic Pro and the Spark.
- The Parrot Anafi can tilt the camera 180 degrees from straight up to straight down.
- Battery life.
- The Parrot Anafi charged by the USB cable and from the remote controller. (charge with the Power bank)
- Camera quality and stability
- Digital zoom and HDR camera.
- Micro SD card slot.
- One-touch start button.
- In-app purchases, to activate the active tracking mode you need to pay an extra few dollars.
- No Obstacle avoidance
- 2 Axis gimbal similar to the DJI Spark.
- The remote controller of the drone does not hold the mobile properly.
The drone has a good camera and if you are seeking a good camera drone that fits into the budget, then this is the best choice for you. In this price range, the camera of the drone performs outstandingly.
However, the drone has some disadvantages like it does not have Obstacle avoidance features that we get on the other drones like DJI Spark, Mavic mini, and Mavic Air.
The obstacle avoidance in the drone would have given some extra plus points to compete with its competitors.
I did not like the in-app purchase features of the Anafi. An in-app purchase like to active track mode, we need to pay an extra $19.90.
